Islands with lower level seating look great!

Lower Level seating on an island isn't common but it's something I personally think looks great and is very convenient. When someone is cooking and cutting up food, the guests or family are seated lower than the cook. Leaving them in sight versus higher seating where you constantly have to look up to  communicate with them and away from what they are doing. Another plus to this arrangement is that you don't have to walk back and forth to a table with the food and can just hand it right over. To top it off these islands are more unique and can give an interesting focal point to any kitchen. This set up can be done in a very modern fashion or a more traditional kitchen as seen below.

This low island has a very modern feel

Cape Cod Beach House

This breezy beach house looks fresh and bright.  The wood floor and Island counter top add warmth to the room.  Professional Pictures taken by Julie Megnia Photography.

White can be very hot!  Sprinkle in a color and bam, you have a fabulous sitting area to relax after a walk on the beach.

Add a little soft blue color to the walls above the bead board to break up the white.  This gives you the feeling your at the beach.  Who wouldn't want to freshen up in this master bath?

Like I said, WHITE IS HOT!!!!

Kitchen Design Ideas

This kitchen also has a nice big island for seating and a great area to display some of your decorative bowls or maybe your favorite cook books.

Want a little color?   Just add a couple of stools and backsplash tiles and you have a new look.

Like I said white is in!

White kitchens are in and here to stay.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF WHITE!
White kitchens are currently a really big trend.  They have been more and more popular over the past year.
I know some people are hesitant to go with a white kitchen but I believe it is a really good choice, because of its versatility.  If your selling your home a white kitchen is something that can work with anyone's  personal style.  With a monochromatic kitchen you can add accessories to add color and interest.

This kitchen has a great oversize island. Islands tend to be something people really desire in a remodel project although, if done incorrectly, they can really hurt the flow of your kitchen. Make sure when you design your kitchen you pay attention to the flow of it and ask your designer to keep this in mind as well.

Just add a little color and get a whole new look!

These two pictures above show how bright a white kitchen can be.  Some people may prefer to add a splash of color by using window treatments, furniture, back-splashes, and wall color.  Although you can add color by using almost anything.
